6 Study Hacks to Clear NDA Exam in First attempt

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the National Defense Academy (NDA) exam, one which has its own strategy which they follow, however, there are some added tips that will help you with the syllabus, better understanding of the CDS Exam Pattern, and the technicality of the exam. Here are a few tips to make sure CDS exam is cleared in the first attempt.

1.Plan your syllabus: Before starting the preparation, make sure you have planned the syllabus accordingly. Understand the CDS Exam Pattern and accordingly study the topics which are easier first and then later cover the tough topics. Also, take out some time in the day to revise what you have studied that day. Read the chapter thoroughly and highlight important points and topics of the chapter. Say no to rote learning as it will definitely not help in competitive exams like NDA.

2.Focus on concepts & Stay away from distractions: Try to understand the concepts while studying instead of rote learning. Understanding concepts may take some time but it will definitely be there in your memory for a long time. Keep yourself away from potential distractions like mobiles, games, extra-curricular activities, etc. Allot time for each and everything, including section wise time allotment to your breaks. Use the mobile phone only during the breaks and strictly only for a limited time.

3.Do Smart Work: Instead of memorizing pages and pages full of history dates and math formulae, try to make acronyms to remember them. Improve your English and Focus more on Math and GA part according to the CDS exam pattern. After you have learnt a topic, try to teach it to your imaginary students sitting in front of you. If you are able to explain the topic to them loudly and clearly, then you have understood the topic really well.

4.Time management is of key importance: It is all about managing the time that has been allotted in a good manner. Try mastering the shortcut methods and save time. Don’t waste time solving a question that you don’t have any idea about. Instead of that, move on to the next question. Always keep an eye on your wrist watch.

5.Do not study when you are stressed out or are sleepy: It is a total waste of time. When you are sleepy or tired, you will not be able to focus and concentrate fully on what you are studying, hence affecting your studies and wasting your time. Instead, get some rest. Studying overtime is not a daredevil’s play. It is plain stupidity. When you are stressed or have not had enough sleep.

6.Eat Healthily & Stay Physically Fit: Keep your diet minimal and keep it healthy. Say no to study snacks as they are distractions to your studies. Reward yourself with snacks when you complete a chapter or learn something. Diet is not the only thing that you must focus on for a healthy body. Get regular exercises daily for at -least about 30-45 minutes that will keep your mind fresh. Go for a run or sport in the evening or morning, during the break time.

The NDA exam is difficult, however, it is not so difficult if the candidates start preparing from an early stage.  Candidates should understand the CDS Exam Pattern very well and should be dedicated and committed to make a career with the armed forces.  Right preparation and a focused mind will help them achieve their dreams.  If you are looking for the right guidance for CDS Exams, you should register with famous academy like Centrefordefencecareers.co.in as they have experts who can guide you through your journey.

So, what is the NDA exam pattern actually that selects a handful of candidates from such a large number? Is it tough? Is it not worth it? Actually, getting into armed forces is a job of pride and valor. The UPSC and SSB leave no stones unturned to filter out the best out of best for safeguarding our country after all, “National interest is the greatest interest.”

Succeeding after failure doesn’t matter but not for NDA examination. The NDA examination is mostly held twice a year i.e. in April and in September. An average applicant gets two chances to appear for the NDA examination given the strict age restriction of 16.5-19 years. Scoring good marks in written examination is important as the merit list is made on the basis performance shown in it. However here are five tips to help you crack the NDA exam in first attempt itself.

  • Syllabus planning should be accurate

There are certain topics in the syllabus which might not be easy for candidates and require special attention. It is advisable to the candidates to cover the easier topics first as they would be less time consuming and then move to difficult topics. The NDA exam pattern is mostly objective and requires regular revision of covered topics.

  • Avoid mugging up and understand concepts

This point works in all examinations. When someone tries to understand the concepts, the person can apply the principles to any question asked related to the topic. Mugging up never helps and instead of aiding, it confuses the candidate with topics the person is well-versed with.

  • Try teaching the topic

A person might forget some points even after a rigorous revision but a person who has taught the topic to people and has explained it. After learning the topic, one can try to teach it to friends or siblings. At times, when the person doesn’t feel comfortable amidst people, the candidate can try pretending to teach in front of furniture. In this way, the person won’t forget the topic in his lifetime.

  • Don’t study forcefully

When one is tired, studying should not be considered. Often, we lag behind our schedule deliberately or inevitably. At those moments, studying for the sake of being on schedule is not advisable. When a person is sleepy, he/she is not able to concentrate fully on the topic which is a total waste of time. Instead of pursuing forcefully, the person should rest and start with a fresh mind.

  • Stay distraction free

Mobile phones, laptops, music players are more of distractions at time of examination. However, too much of studying can exhaust mind beyond recovery. The usage of such devices should be limited like during a short break of 5 minutes. Recreation is necessary but must be avoided in case the person gets distracted too easily.
