So, what is the NDA exam pattern actually that selects a handful of candidates from such a large number? Is it tough? Is it not worth it? Actually, getting into armed forces is a job of pride and valor. The UPSC and SSB leave no stones unturned to filter out the best out of best for safeguarding our country after all, “National interest is the greatest interest.”

Succeeding after failure doesn’t matter but not for NDA examination. The NDA examination is mostly held twice a year i.e. in April and in September. An average applicant gets two chances to appear for the NDA examination given the strict age restriction of 16.5-19 years. Scoring good marks in written examination is important as the merit list is made on the basis performance shown in it. However here are five tips to help you crack the NDA exam in first attempt itself.

  • Syllabus planning should be accurate

There are certain topics in the syllabus which might not be easy for candidates and require special attention. It is advisable to the candidates to cover the easier topics first as they would be less time consuming and then move to difficult topics. The NDA exam pattern is mostly objective and requires regular revision of covered topics.

  • Avoid mugging up and understand concepts

This point works in all examinations. When someone tries to understand the concepts, the person can apply the principles to any question asked related to the topic. Mugging up never helps and instead of aiding, it confuses the candidate with topics the person is well-versed with.

  • Try teaching the topic

A person might forget some points even after a rigorous revision but a person who has taught the topic to people and has explained it. After learning the topic, one can try to teach it to friends or siblings. At times, when the person doesn’t feel comfortable amidst people, the candidate can try pretending to teach in front of furniture. In this way, the person won’t forget the topic in his lifetime.

  • Don’t study forcefully

When one is tired, studying should not be considered. Often, we lag behind our schedule deliberately or inevitably. At those moments, studying for the sake of being on schedule is not advisable. When a person is sleepy, he/she is not able to concentrate fully on the topic which is a total waste of time. Instead of pursuing forcefully, the person should rest and start with a fresh mind.

  • Stay distraction free

Mobile phones, laptops, music players are more of distractions at time of examination. However, too much of studying can exhaust mind beyond recovery. The usage of such devices should be limited like during a short break of 5 minutes. Recreation is necessary but must be avoided in case the person gets distracted too easily.
